In this unit, students will explore and discuss the connection between the scientific study of water and the water cycle, the human need for clean and safe drinking water, and the important role of the environmental engineers in providing and maintaining water quality.
Afterschool students will recognize the role of environmental engineers in helping to address problems of air, water, and soil contamination in many parts of the country and in their local communities Students will be challenged to think as the environmental engineer by taking note for the next 13 weeks of the pollution, identifying possible ways to avoid contamination by the Engineering Design Process including, Planning, Creating, Testing and improving water filtration. After completing the Engineering Design Process students will fund raise filtered and purified water bottles to send to India. |
